Sidsel Lehn Mehlsen (b. 1994, Aarhus) is a visual artist and artistic researcher whose practice explores the concept of belonging. Working across photography, ceramics, video, and writing, she investigates spatiotemporal frameworks of domesticity alongside other spaces of intimacy and estrangement. By foregrounding processes of identity formation and agency, Mehlsen examines the relational and mnemonic dimensions of attachment—how place and memory both interweave through material and conceptual forms, yet also unravel into moments of disorientation and alienation. Integrating phenomenological inquiry with elements of magical realism, her work seeks to articulate the affective economies that shape interior worlds, tracing how belonging can both anchor and estrange the self within shifting emotional and spatial terrains.
