Leaning on photography and collecting as forms of mnemonic indexing, Sidsel Lehn Mehlsen (1994) inhabits the gaps between language and sensation. As an image-maker and thing-finder working across media, material states, and shifting registers of relation, she is interested in transience and decay as primary conditions of perception. In her work, organic matter, trinkets and other miscellanea are reconfigured and assembled through installation, film-making and vitrine-adjacent displays, where provisionality becomes a generative mode of composition by holding form without securing it.

Her work has been screened, read and exhibited previously at Loods 6 (NL), Well Read (PT), 019 (BE), Fabulous Future (NL), Eye Film Museum (NL), NeverNeverland (NL), Godsbanen (DK), Aarhus Artspace (DK), and Copenhagen Photo Festival (DK) amongst others. As a custodian of the para-educational platform the Garden Department, Mehlsen has made additional appearances with her work at Het HEM (NL) and BAK (NL).
